In 2000 Cerno launched the only annual national study of compensation of the Trucking industry in Canada. When we started, a few industry managers told us that we would find that the industry paid their employees “the same”. This could not be further from the truth. The trucking industry pays a broad range of salaries, and employees continue to turnover at rates much higher than other North American industries. Industries like manufacturing have access to dozens of studies for the express purpose of reducing turnover. Finally, hundreds of Canadian Trucking companies have discovered the benefit of sound compensation research.
Our study is not just an overview of the nation. While maintaining our industry specific focus, we pursue the largest response possible, rather than settling for an acceptable national response rate. We do this to produce as many pre-customized reports as possible by region, trucking practice, company size, ownership status, and union status.
