    • Chairman of the Board

      Directs the Board in carrying out its responsibilities as well as seeking Board approval for proposed changes in major policy directions.     • Strategic Planning Executive

      Accountable for defining all aspects of company's long-range goals including mergers, acquisitions and dispositions. Enumerates, for senior management approval, growth and profitability objectives together with a strategic operational and capital expenditures blueprint. Scrutinizes ongoing development performance against approved yardsticks.

    • Corporate Secretary

      Chief Administration Officer and holder of the corporate seal, shareholder records and minute book. Acts as the repository for all legal documents and other information files as required by organizational bylaws, and government agencies. Arranges shareholder meetings, prepares related agenda and records minutes. Advises Officers and Board Members of significant changes in stock ownership and control.

    • General Counsel/Secretary & General Counsel

      The top legal position responsible for deciding the organization's legal positioning with respect to competitive issues (I.e., trademarks, patents, copyrights, contractual arrangements, etc.). Protects the organization from legal actions by ensuring the organization's business practices, policies and dealings meet regulatory requirements. Interprets and prepares all legal documents. May serve as Corporate Secretary.

    • Top Administrative Executive

      Maintains sufficient staff support to meet operation management requrements. This includes information systems management, internal and external telecommunication systems, site management, and materials procurement.

    • Top Management Information Systems Executive

      Oversees all computer operations including programming and systems design. Accountable for identifying and developing long-range feasibility studies needed to meet strategic organizational information needs. Responsible for adequate non-technical user participation to ensure information systems approach is user friendly.

    • Top Environmental Executive

      Responsible for design, placement and supervision of organisation's current and long-range environmental objectives related to all relevant environmental and hazardous waste laws and regulations. Oversees all such activities and monitors results to ensure complete regulatory compliance. Represents the company in all dealings with environmental related governmental and non-governmental agencies.

    • Chief Financial Officer

      Top Financial Officer responsible for the organization's financial plans and policies. Additional duties involve developing adequate accounting practices and secure relationships with banks and other financial institutions. Other responsibilities include supervising treasury management, budget creation, real estate, internal and tax audits, credit and insurance activities, and internal cost control.

    • Treasurer

      Supervises the care of all financial assets, including banking operations and funds management. Lines of credit and deposit levels, usually under the direction of the CFO, are prime responsibilities. May also embrace corporate secreterial duties.

    • Corporate Controller

      Responsible for supervision of organization's fiscal records together with the financial statements prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). These functions include: general accounting, capital asset accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgeting. This executive can be responsible for information systems other than those for financial records. Usually reports to CFO.

    • Top Marketing and Sales Executive

      Responsible for harmonizing the efforts of marketing and sales personnel in order to meet corporate objectives. Specific duties include evolving corporate objectives, policies, and programs to maintain and improve the organization’s competitive market reach, while at the same time securing maximum sales volume at minimum cost. Continually analyzes sales activities and reports results to senior corporate officers.

    • Top Operations Executive

      Responsible for the ongoing feasibility of manufacturing procedures, inventory control, manpower requirements and facility utilization that affects plant efficiency and the quality of the resulting output. Other duties can involve ensuring plant operating standards meet not only public expectation, but also government and corporate requirements. Reports directly to the COO, President or CEO.

    • Top Research and Development Executive

      Responsible for initiating and directing research and development policies and procedures toward new or improved products and processes to ensure maintenance of the organization's competitive position and profitability. In some organizations, this R&D function may supplement other technical responsibilities.

    • Top Human Resources Management Executive

      Developing and administering employment and personnel policies are prime responsibilities. These include, setting and managing initiatives, and union/non-union labour relations. Community and/or public relations involvement is also sometimes necessary.

      Heading the company's engineering function, this executive is responsible for planning and developing, together with shop floor management, product and process design.     • Credit Collections Manager

      Duties include investigation of new customers credit references, for credit lines, pursuing overdue accounts and initiating collection arrangements. Supervises organizations credit department personnel.

    • Payroll Manager

      Heads up the creation/circulation of the organization's hourly and salaried payrolls, and maintenance of earning/deduction records. Oversees year-end balancing and T4 preparation. Ensures that tax deductions and contributions to programs are extracted from individual paychecks, and directed accordingly.

    • Purchasing Manager

      Oversees the purchases of plant materials. Duties include implementing cost controls, ensuring compliance to purchasing standards, reviewing lead time reports, cost trends and price records. Liaison with senior operating staff.

      Creates and applies the various employee benefit programs, recommending changes (if necessary) in order to maintain the organization's competitive objectives. Also may administer performance evaluations and incentive programs within established areas.

    • Labour Relations Manager

      Creates and maintains relations between management and labour. Represents management in labour issues, such as union and/or employee association negotiations. Develops the organization's labour relations policy.

    • Office Manager

      Supervises and coordinates personnel in clerical functions; organizes office operations. Maintains flow of work, directs supervisors responsible for clerical and administrative functions, requisitions, supplies and equipment.

    • Personnel / Human Resources Manager

      Develops and administers human resources policies including recruitment, wage and salary administration, training, benefits program, health and safety.     • Information Systems Manager

      Coordinates all information systems and office operations. Supervises the overall information systems function of the organization, including equipment and programming. Researches the efficiency of other methods of information processing.

    • Research and Development Manager

      Creates and heads up research and development programs designed to reduce the cost of a product and its production. Also may formulate research regarding the posibility of new product introduction.

    • Technical Support Manager

      Supervises technical support staff. Implements operating standards for systems applications and provides technical assistance to both systems staff and other employees of the organization. May also include systems performance analysis.

    • Plant Engineer / Maintenance Manager

      Responsible for supervising repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, buildings and grounds. Procures outside maintenance contractors. May be involved in facility design and construction.

    • General Manager

      Responsible, through functional middle management, for the facility's financial and operating results. Executes approved operational, administrative and financial strategies to meet these objectives. Reports directly to Senior Management.

    • Production Manager

      Responsible for management and coordination of production including production planning and control, scheduling, process engineering and maintenance, through put and packaging, as well as staff development and relations.

    • Project Manager

      Responsible for project management and co-ordination of various technical projects. May be a professional engineer. Plans, organizes and coordinates work on a number of projects, plans and conducts applied research.

    • Distribution Manager

      Responsible for the distribution of the ordered parts and products. In conjunction with the inventory manager, is responsible for the accurately scheduled distribution of inventory to promote the most efficient production methods possible.

    • Inventory Control Manager

      Maintains up to date inventory records, while ensuring an adequate inventory of materials, semi-finished, and finished products. Updates inventory/stock in accordance with a known production cycle.

    • Logistics Manager

      Oversees the distribution, inventory, warehousing, shipping methods and material handling for the facility and local distribution centre. Will also be involved in process flow of raw materials to finished shipped goods.

    • Materials Manager

      Oversees the overall movement of materials to and from plants. Responsible for some issues regarding shipping, warehousing, and customer service. Has specific responsibility for inventory control on many occasions.

    • Operations Manager

      Oversees the operation of the organization's facilities in a manufacturing environment. Corrects operational problems, and heads up the implementation of procedural changes to aid in the organization's efficiency.

    • Plant Manager

      Supervises operations regarding the plant. Establishes cost effective methods to achieve high quality, and delegates authority in production and related operations.

    • Quality Control Manager

      Responsible for installing and supervising inspection, sampling and testing procedures for raw materials, in-process and finished goods. Conducts research on product defects and recommends corrective actions.

    • Engineering Manager

      Responsible for overseeing at least two of the following: product development, tooling, maintenance, process, quality control and production. Typically reports to the Plant Manager. Accredited engineer.

    • Warehouse / Distribution Manager

      Responsible for all or most of the following: shipping, receiving, traffic fleet vehicles, order processing, physical custody of finished goods and accuracy of product inventory records at one or more locations.

    • Customer Service Manager

      Ensures the quality of response to customer inquiries. May direct a group of customer service agents. May coordinate with other departments.

    • Safety Manager

      Provides guidance to supervisory personnel on techniques of hiring, training and supervision that will promote safety of operations. Advises other departments on regulatory requirements relating to safety and control of hazards. May also handle accident claims, worker’s compensation matters and reporting required by safety regulations. Develops accident control programs. Establishes record keeping systems and survey methods to show types and degree of accident problems.

    • Database Manager

      Responsible for all activities related to the administration of databases. Coordinates efforts to meet office or consumer service standards.

    • Tax Manager

      Responsible for implementing company tax strategy in accordance with federal, provincial, and foreign laws. Supervises necessary financial staff.

      Publishes documents for circulation outside the company in accordance with established guidelines. Familiar with printing and pre-press requirements. Makes creative decisions. Maintains computer graphics workstation.

    • Draftsman - Senior

      Performs drafting duties involving preparation or revision of drawings, plans, charts, etc., from rough sketches, notes, verbal instructions, or tabulated data. Modifies drawings, makes detailed tracings and large scale diagrams.

    • Draftsman - Computer-Assisted Design (CAD)

      Prepares layouts, designs, drawings from sketches and specifications using a CAD system. Reviews output with engineering staff and makes changes. Provides specified elevations, cross-sections, projections, etc.

    • Accounting Clerk / Bookkeeper - Senior

      Maintains general ledger or set of related records of account, balancing and producing periodic statements, exhibits, reports, etc., concerning the business position. Prepares cheques and/or draws cash from bank for business purposes.

    • Accounting Clerk / Bookkeeper - Junior

      Posts and maintains journal or subsidiary ledgers forming only part of a systematic accounting system, e.g. accounts payable, accounts receivable, suspense ledger, etc.

    • Cost Clerk

      Compiles factory costs on complicated products such as assemblies and operational costing. Capable of assuming the responsibilities of complete costing of a specific product. Requires knowledge of cost and general accounting.

    • Credit/Collections Clerk

      Responsible for credit and collections. Determines credit limits. Activates and maintains collections and follow-up. Monitors credit limits and reports on delinquent and potential loss situations. Investigates complaints and discrepancies.

    • Health & Safety Coordinator

      Responsible for the coordination of the occupational health and safety program, including training in the safe handling and use of products, materials and/or equipment. Responsible for the investigation and report on workplace accidents.

    • Personnel / Human Resource Administrator

      Responsible for interviewing candidates for salaried and hourly paid positions. Maintains personnel administration records and reports on training, safety, and fringe benefits. May be involved in labour relations and personnel research.

    • Payroll or Personnel Clerk

      Prepares and maintains employee personnel and benefit records. Computes payroll records including deductions at source bonuses and commissions records sick leave, vacations etc. May process application forms.

    • Maintenance Foreman

      Supervises and coordinates maintenance activities. Determines manpower requirements and requisitions materials and supplies. Inspects and ensures the continued functioning of machinery and equipment.

    • Laboratory Technician - Senior

      Performs qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses, chemical or mechanical tests, operations, or measurements. Interprets results and prepares reports. May recommend adjustments to processes.

    • Laboratory Technician - Junior

      Under supervision sets up and performs simple, routine chemical analyses or mechanical tests, operations, or measurements in accordance with established procedures, records data, prepares simple reports.

    • Production Clerk

      Responsible for filing requisitions for specialized or diversified line or apparatus. Familiar with all phases of production work. Reviews requisitions, gives estimates of shipments, prepared schedules, follows progress of work from start to finish.

    • Production Foreman

      Supervises and coordinates workers. Determines manpower requirements and estimates materials and supplies needed for completion of work. Establishes methods to meet work schedules. Prepares production, progress or other reports.

    • Production Scheduler

      Schedules production, re-tooling, and equipment set-up. Responsible for ensuring proper manpower allocations, resolving conflicts, notifying departments of problems. Works with purchasing/buyers to ensure inventory levels.

    • Billing and Shipping Clerk

      Fills requisitions or p.o.'s for materials, supplies and equipment etc from stores. Furnishes information for costing and/or billing. Determines methods of shipment, prepares waybills, and customs declarations. Maintains records of shipments.

    • Custom Clerk

      Must be familiar with government regulations regarding ports of entry, classification of goods for duty purposes, etc. Traces goods and clears shipments. Checks customs classification. Initiates corrective action regarding problems with customs.

    • Estimator

      Prepares product cost estimates to determine efficient operations. Calculates material costs, labour and freight. Incorporates changes in original estimates according to revised customer requirements. Calculates excess costs.

    • Purchasing Agent / Buyer

      Responsible for overall sourcing, negotiation and procurement of goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and maintenance. Duties also include developing supply sources and ensure records are maintained. Reports to Purchasing Manager.

    • Executive Assistant

      Works under minimum supervision. Discretion and judgement required. Prepares correspondence, takes notes and prepares reports. Performs related duties as required. May assign, coordinate, direct and review administrative staff. Arranges appointments and meetings for managers.

      Operates as a Secretary. In addition to items below (Secretary - Junior), arranges appointments, meetings and may take notes of proceedings. Requires knowledge of business. Familiar with word processing, spreadsheet applications.

    • Secretary / Assistant - Junior

      Operates as stenographer. Duties could include typing statements, reports, schedules, etc. Involves maintenance of correspondence files, receiving visitors, supplying information and answering telephone. Familiar with word processing applications.

    • Switchboard / Receptionist

      Operates switchboard, refers inquiries and messages. May track long distance calls and charges. Conversant with company personnel and organizational structure. Acts as receptionist and handles minor clerical duties.

    • Industrial Electrician

      Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in industrial establishments. Accredited tradesperson. Does not include apprentice.

    • Process Engineer

      Researches, plans, and participates in designing / redesigning / modifying / troubleshooting, manufacturing systems, processes and equipment. Coordinates with other departments and with suppliers. Accredited Professional Engineer.

    • Product Development Engineer

      Responsible for developing improvements to existing products and concepts / designs for new products. Directs CAD designer accordingly. Accredited Professional Engineer. Reports to senior plant management, such as the Engineering Manager.

    • Quality Assurance Engineer

      Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance, processes, materials and products. Accredited Professional Engineer.

    • Quality Assurance Technician

      Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and complies and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Associate or College diploma.

    • Database Analyst / Programmer - Senior

      Designs, implements, and maintains databases. Involved in the design of the databases, competent with both database management and database programming requirements.

    • Service Technician - Junior

      With supervision, provides localized technical support both on-site at the customer's organization, or from a central location.

    • Service Technician - Intermediate

      With minimal supervision, provides specific technical support and services both on-site at a customer's organization, or from a central location.

    • Service Technician - Senior

      Works independently and supervises others to provide specialized technical support on site for customers, as well as from a central location. Most often involved in the installation, operation, maintenance and analysis of certain technologies.

    • Customer Service Representative - Inside

      Provides courteous service to ensure customer satisfaction through the processing of information and dispersal of assistance by tele- phone, mail or in person. Often deals with customer grievances.

    • Computer Operator

      Operates computer(s) utilizing established programs or programs under development. Monitors performance, reporting deviations from standards. Detects nature of errors or equipment failure and makes normal adjustments.

    • Computer Programmer - Senior

      Highly experienced computer programmer. Writes tests and debugs computer programs for business, scientific or engineering applications, capable of complex assignments. Documents procedures for use with completed program.

    • Computer Programmer - Junior

      Assists Computer Programmer - Senior, performing functions similar to senior but of a less complex nature. May work alone on routine assignments. Works under close supervision.

    • Data Entry Operator

      Operates a data capture machine to process source documents. Work is of standard and repetitive nature. Processes source documents and may verify recorded data. Detailed instructions provided on methods and procedures.

    • LAN Administrator

      Installs and maintains the organization's local area network. Manages network performance and security, and installs network software. Usually reports to the Network Administrator.

    • Network Administrator - Senior

      Monitors and regulates all aspects of the network resources. Tests and analyzes all complex elements of the network facilities. May head up and oversee a group of network technicians.

    • Network Administrator - Intermediate

      Generally supervised, handles general problems/testing of network facilities. Deals with the daily performance and status of the network. Often reports to the Network Administrator - Senior.

    • System Analyst

      Under supervision, assists in devising system spec's and records layouts. Qualified to work on somephases of systems analysis, but requires guidance and direction for other phases. Conducts studies, analyzes office procedures.

    • Webmaster / Internet Administrator

      Manages/administrates/programs the website(s) of the organization. May advise users on access to various company sites. May head up a team of technical staff who aid in the design and maintenance of Intra/Internet products and activities.

    • Inside Sales Representative

      Works in sales office handling customer inquiries, or in-person calls, concerning suitability, availability and prices of products. Extensive product knowledge required. May act as support for outside sales representatives. Requires cold calling and follow-up with possible new customers.

    • Sales Representative - Junior

      Performs general customer relations function ensuring the company's products and services are provided to customer's expectations while working closely with Sales Manager and/or Senior Sales Representative. Responsible for servicing current customer accounts and expanding customer base. Entry position requires little sales experience.

    • Sales Representative - Intermediate

      Directs sales efforts in assigned territory for attainment of quotas, promotion of company services and servicing of company accounts. Reports to the Sales Manager and has several years of sales experience. Is expected to work within an established budget and must achieve sales goals.

    • Sales Representative - Senior

      Directs sales efforts usually covering a major territory or market sector. May have a large dollar territory or handle a large geographic area. May use technical expertise to provide advice on application of services.

    • Assembler - Junior

      Works on minor units or sub-assemblies. Usually employed on standardized products or methods. Little or no knowledge of drawing or shop practices required. Performs simple adjustment and little or no fitting under direct supervision.

    • Assembler - Intermediate

      Assembles prefabricated parts. Cuts, files, fits, punches, reams, rivets, forms and/or assembles by the use of hand and/or power equipment and/or clamping of individual parts in their proper relations for assembling.

    • Assembler - Senior

      Works on major units/difficult and diversified assembly/adjusting of intricate, expensive apparatus. Considerable fitting, aligning and adjusting. Close tolerances and precision fits. Diversified work. Knowledge of drawing and shop practices may be required. Little or no direct supervision required.

    • Bench Worker or Table Worker

      Performs various manual operations - checking, sorting, bundling, packaging, labeling, pasting, snipping, tying, trimming. Involved in the carrying out of a process while seated at a table or bench.

    • Crane Operator

      Operates a power driven crane to lift and move heavy objects. Supplies materials to manufacturing process for ongoing production and may remove finished goods. May load and unload transports. May be known according to type of crane operated.

    • Drill Press Operator

      Drills various complicated parts, machine parts and raw stock. Does simple, plain, template or jig drilling, multiple drilling, tapping, reaming, spot facing, counter-sinking chambering and counter-boring. Uses various vertical power-driven drill press and hand tools such as hammers.

    • Electrician - Maintenance

      Wires and maintains electrical transmission lines, motors, generators, distribution equipment and apparatus for plant and office illumination, power, internal communication and transportation systems in accordance with the N.E.C. May work from prints and schematics.

    • Electronic Engineering Technician

      Performs technical functions in various aspects of electronic engineering, primarily in support of installation, operations maintenance, production and quality control.

    • Fork Lift Truck Operator

      Operates gas or electric power truck in factory or warehouse areas, aisles, etc. Loads, transports and unloads all types of materials. Has passed a provincial safety course.

    • Class A Garage Mechanic

      Builds, rebuilds, repairs and maintains all parts of automotive equipment as may be required with little or no supervision.

    • General Labourer

      Performs unskilled labour jobs in a plant or yard. Does such jobs as moving assemblies, machines or furniture, patterns, fences, timbers or other similar items; digging ditches; cleaning roofs, acid tanks, floors, etc.

    • Handyman - Maintenance

      Duties confined to minor maintenance of the building, i. e., rough partitions, shelves, replaces washers, repairs doors, locks, etc. Moderately skilled in the use of tools of several trades rather than specializing in one trade or one type of maintenance works.

    • Injection Moulding Machine Operator

      Operates an injection moulding machine to form products from thermo plastic material. Responsible for loading and starting machine hopper, maintaining proper temperature and pressure. Conducting an initial inspection for visual defects. May also trim excess material from products.

    • Inspector/Tester

      Examines raw materials for quality, and manufactured items for defects and for conformance to specifications. May use scales, gauges, template calipers and micrometers to ensure established standards are maintained. Recommends changes to quality methods, practices and procedures.

    • Janitor

      Cleans and sweeps office areas including washing and polishing floors, vacuuming carpets, dusting and polishing furniture, emptying waste baskets, maintaining washrooms, etc.

    • Lead Hand / Crew Chief / Team Leader

      A "working" employee who checks production operator performance. Liaison between supervisors and production workers. May be responsible for training of new production operators. Assists production operators with equipment set up/re-tooling, etc. Manages physical components inventory.

    • Machine Operator or Tender
